Want 300 million more customers?
Europe is the 2nd biggest market for Amazon with local websites in Germany, UK, France, Spain and Italy.
With Fulfillment by Amazon it has never been easier to start selling your products in Europe, because the marketplace works the same all over the world.
It all started in Germany
In 2011, Joerg and I started KAVAJ on Amazon.de. It was a no brainer for us, because we both worked for Amazon Germany and German is our native language. In the same year we also offered our products in the UK.
From our time at Amazon we knew that in particular Amazon Germany and UK were the biggest e-commerce players. However, it was much harder at that time to list your products in all EU markets as you needed separate seller accounts and local bank accounts for each country.
Today, all marketplace work the same and you only need one Seller Account for all EU countries. You can also use your current bank account in order to get paid. So you don’t need any new tools to sell in Europe. You can download all tools we are using for Amazon Europe business here.
This is what you need to get started in Europe
Unified Seller Account: The first thing your need to get started is an Amazon EU unified account. You can choose to register your account in one of the 5 EU markets: Germany, UK, France, Spain and Italy. We recommend to get started in Germany or UK first, as most customers are waiting for you here.
Translations: In order to sell successfully you need to translate your product data. No one will buy your product on Amazon Germany if you list the item in English. We are working with a freelancer, we found on upwork.com in order to translate our products for each platform.
Customer Service: With Fulfillment by Amazon you actually don’t need to worry about customer service. However, this only applies to all logistics and payment related questions. If you customer has a question regarding your product, he will get in touch with you and it is best practice to provide customer service in the local language.
VAT and Legal Consulting: Every EU country has it’s own tax rules and invoice requirements, which you need to comply with. We tried to do it ourselves first in Germany, but soon realized that it’s to complicated, time consuming an not fun, so we hired a professional tax consultant. In order to register your brand in the EU, we also recommend to get professional legal support.
Shipping Agency: We recommend to use Fulfillment by Amazon for all your products right from the start. In order to get your products from your factory into the Amazon warehouse you definitely want to work with a professional partner. You can either send your products directly via DHL or UPS or work with a shipping agency, which is taking care of all paperwork and distributes your products to the respective country.
